Swami Dayananda Saraswati: "Religious freedom does not extend to having a planned program of conversion"
"When you convert somebody you have to criticise the person's religion, his worship, his culture; all these hurt. Even when he changes it hurts. How will he change? He has to disown his parents, and their wisdom and their culture, his ancestors, and entire community." - Excerpts from an interview with Swami Dayananda Saraswati.

"The Niyogi Committee Report on Christian missionary activities"
An important historical document for students of contemporary reactions to missionary activities in India. This enquiry into the activities of the Christian missionaries in Madhya Pradesh was commissionned by the government of this Indian State in 1954 and published in 1956. Long out of print, it was republished by Voice of India (New Delhi) in 1998 as a 800 page-long volume. "Evangelisation in India,” claimed the report, “appears to be part of the uniform world policy to revive Christendom for re-establishing Western supremacy and is not prompted by spiritual motives." It attempts to "alienate Indian Christian community from their nation". - The full text of this document can be found online here. Visit Website ]

"Religious conversions: frequently asked questions"
"Conversions create social tensions. The targeted community feels that it will lose out on its culture and civilisational values. All societies try and protect the collective consciousness of the past. The destruction of a culture is not only in terms of physical structures like places of worship, but also a destruction of amassed wisdom. The great library of Alexandria in pre-Christian and pre-Islam Egypt were destroyed by the followers of these two systems. In South America, we see only mute monuments of what were obviously great civilisations. The Hindu civilisation is today the oldest surviving civilisation. This has been achieved at a great cost in terms of resisting those who came to destroy. It is easy to destroy, but difficult to preserve." - Read Hindu objections to conversions, prepared by Hindu Vivek Kendra (Mumbai) and available online as Q&A on the following website. "The creeping march of Christianity: the widespread evangelization in Bangladesh"
"Now the tocsin is being whistled in the firmament of Bangladesh due to the extensive activities of Christian missionary groups, which have made massive assault on the custom, culture and religion of poverty-stricken people. They control the majority of NGOs directly or indirectly and are engaged in evangelization. Their activities termed as the "neo-colonialism" are great challenge and threat for the sovereignty and independence of Bangladesh. This article aims at demonstrating the nefariousness of multi-dimensional Christian activities in Bangladesh." - An article by Muslim (and Canadian-educated) scholar Saidul Islam, which can be downloaded as a PDF file from an Islamic website in Bangladesh by clicking on the following link.
